December 25, 2008

Since I only got back from Florida a few hours ago and I still have plenty to do before I leave for LA tomorrow. I just want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope you’ll have a wonderful time!

Catch Up Time

December 1, 2008

It seems like I upset some people by not writing… Again, I do apologize and I promise there will be new posts soon. In fact, I will start writing right this second but I’m afraid I won’t be finished until tomorrow. So just hold on a little bit =) I have lots of fun news plus pictures and you’ll read about it soon!

Picture Update

October 24, 2008

I don’t have any big stories to tell, I’ve been incredibly busy working since I came back from New York. That’s also why it took me so long to write new posts, but I think it’ll be pretty calm next week because Ro goes to a camp in Maine for a few days.
Anyhow, I have some pictures that I’d like to share =)

The quality of this picture is so bad because I took it with my cell phone. It’s New York (what else?!) as we were getting close. I don’t know if you can tell here, but we were passing a cementery, the gravestones and the buildings sticking out behind it looked so amazing!

I took that picture the other day and I love it! I feel so good about my hair right now =) I’m not even joking… I felt fantastic that day – I don’t even know what else to say…

=) My hair – finally straihgtened now… I just love it!

Actually, there is one new story… This morning, as I was getting ready, I heard a sound somewhere outside my bathroom. When I went to take a look a bird came flying towards me *haha* I got so scared and just ducked down… It flew into the room next to mine…. I just closed my door so it couldn’t fly in there and poop all over the place *haha* I told my host mum and she told me to go shut the doors to the room the bird was in. I heard that poor thing flying against the window over and over again, I felt so bad!! But it was really kind of scary.. Maura called somebody and they got it out.. It was so crazy!

I hope I’ll have some time and stuff =) next week to write some more – right now there’s really not much going on besides work.

Work??

August 27, 2008

Well, I knew that my work here would be not as hard as back in New York, but so far I haven’t done any work here besides laundry and some dishes. “My kids” never seem to be home, so all I do is hang out around the house, by the pool, listen to music, read my book, hang by the pool, tan, swim… Pretty neat!
Ro is always with her friends so I’m free to do whatever I want. It’s very nice, and I’m enjoying it a lot after the stressful work with my old family. I get to relax a lot, but I’m trying not to be too laze and go for bike rides or swimming, although I try to find excuses…

Today the only thing I did was giving Ro and her friend a ride to their soccer class, after that I headed straight to the T because I had a cluster meeting in Boston. I had a terrible headache and didn’t feel very well, besides that I was freezing cold. It was so hot out today that I didn’t expect it to be cool at night and didn’t bring a jacket or anything – wrong desicion! But then I passed this great Ice Cream place calles “Emack & Bolio’s” that I’ve heard of before, supposedly they have the best ice cream in New England. And boy, I have to say… My headache was gone after I finished my cup of “Cookie Monster & Chocolate Addiction” – DELICIOUS!!!! It was really, really good!! Definitely a place I’ll go back to! They have funny names for their flavours and I wanna try some more.

The meeting wasn’t very exciting, the people were nice though. But I was cold and getting a little tiered, I didn’t have much to say and was glad when I got home. Tomorrow I’ll actually have some work, I have to drive Matt somewhere, and I am planning to go out at night, should be fun!
I’m sorry I don’t have anything exciting to write about.. I’m just relaxing, I feel like I’m on vacation… But I’ll get back to it!

Passwords

I decided to password protect some of my posts, if you need the passwords just comment me somewhere and I’ll email you what it is!

Good Bye!

August 21, 2008

I can hardly believe it’s been a year since I said good bye to my family and friends in Austria, got on that big airplane – feeling like that little girl heading out to an airport as big as my hometown, who’s getting out to explore the world. How scared I was!

And now, one year and one day later, I sit here at JFK again, ready (…am I?) to go to that new place that I hardly know anything about, hoping and wishing to get the best, excited, but also concerned and a little sad. I didn’t permit myself to melt down in front of the kids, I didn’t want them to remember me crying when they saw me for the last time (that’s one image they still have from their last au pair… “J. is crying!”) So I kissed them good bye with a smile on my face, but shaking. I gave Stacia a hug and tryed not to break out in tears. I still don’t really get that I am leaving New York for good – or at least for a inculculable period of time. I just hope my little kiddos are gonna remember me and think about me every once in a while! I don’t think they understood that I’m not coming back, and they have such a busy weekend (their grandparents are visting and there’s a big surprise party), so  guess it’ll take a while for them to realize what’s going on. I took care of them for a year and experienced some major developmental changes, I’ll never forget about all the great times we had and I am so thankful for what I learned from them! I’ll sure miss those little bugs…
We had such a nice time yesterday, I took them to the little airport close to our house, packed up a blanket and some lunch and we sat on the roof of  what was I guess a garage for the airplaines and just wayched those little planes, it was so cute. But  after a while they asked us to leave for some reason… It was too hot anyway!
At night I just met Jeniffer, we thought we might hang out at somebody’s house again, but it got a little late so we just decided to stay where we were (in front of Caffe A La Mode, in her car) and we talked. I am so happy I met her, we had such a great time together!

I am leaving so much behind here but still my head is empty, there’s nothing right now. I feel like there’s just too much going on so I can’t even figure out what I’m feeling right now. I will be in Boston in just about 2 hours and I’ve been looking forward to that for so long, but I don’t know what exactly to expect and I’m also slightly doubting my desicion of not going home. Although I think that’s an understandable thought in a situation like this!

Looking back at this year I am filled with delight about all the things I saw, the oportunities I had, the people I met and what I experienced in general. I just hope there’s more to come in Boston and that it’s not gonna be too hard to adapt. I will always remember this year as one of the greatest in my life and even though it is sort of breaking my heart to leave New York and all it offered for me I am ready to move on. I will never forget this time, it was the best!

Good Bye, New York!

Picture Update!!

August 17, 2008

I got all the pictures from Jeniffer’s camera now and postet a lot of them in “Last Weekend In NYC” – check them out, I really like them. I just wish I would have had my own camera, but what am I gonna do…
Today I called the Sears Repair Center and they told me that my camera is ready to be picked up – I got so mad, last time it broke they sent it to my house, I didn’t know I had to pick it up. So it’s probably been there for a while, had I known there would be so many pictures!!! I’m gonna pick it up tomorrow and shoot pictures of everything, just to make up for my cameraless past weeks…!!

3 Weeks Until Boston =)

August 2, 2008

Another week is over =) And it was a very good one, everybody got along great and the kids have been very good. I’ve been on compute hunt this week and gathered a lot of information together about what I want and what I need and I finally found a great Laptop, I can’t wait to get it!! So here’s what I’ve been up to this week…
Monday night my host family and I went out for ice cream *yum* and got pulled on our way home.. That was the forth time for me to get pulled over in the US, and I never got a ticket!! =)
Tuesday  night I went to see Bruna in Warwick,  didn’t know if I was gonna see her before she moved to Atlanta on Saturday. Vince was there, too, and Jennifer came later on. It was nice to just hang out a little and talk, I had a really good day on Tuesday. I didn’t work that much (“just” 9 1/2 hours) and I had fun with the kids!
Wedndesday I stayed in to just watch TV (Heidi Klum’s “Project Runway” haha*) and I just relaxed a little, and on Thuesday Stacia and I took the kids To Vernon, NJ to meet Stacia’s friends Cindy at the “Mineral Spa”, she has a condo there and left us some passes for the pool. The pool area there was really nice and we had lots of fun with the kids. It got pretty late though, we didn’y get home until 10pm. But it was a fun day.
Friday was such a great day, it was so hot outside and in the morning I went out with Abby to run some errands for Stacia and stopped at Best Buy to see (and touch *haha*) the computer that I was looking at online and had them give me some more details about it. In the afternoon I finally ordered it =) *yyaaaaaaayyyy* And later I took the kids to the park in Warwick and to have some muffins and ice cream *yum* and we stopped at the grocery store. We were so busy that day so it was over very quickly. I went to Warwick again to meet Jennifer, and Bruna and Hanna stopped by too. We had a blast there!! They had an open mic show inside, and we were sitting outside, fooling around, talking, having so much fun! Everybody was in a great mood (Isuspect they put something in my coffee) and we must have been pretty loud or I don’t know, but somehow we caught this guy Josh’s attention (he works there) and he asked us where we all were from (France, Sweden, Brazil and Austria – I love it!) and invited us to a party later that night. We had plans for going to the drive in to see “Mama Mia”  but Jennifer and I kind of prefered the party, so we changed plans. Bruna went home because she had to get up at 3am to make her flight to Atlanta and Hanna didn’t wanna come either, so just the two of us went. We had such a great time there, everybody was so friendly and welcoming and I am so happy we went there. First I was speaking in German to a guy whose dad is from Germany and then I got to know a guy from Boston which is great, because now I already have numbers from 5 people living in Boston, I gues I’m not gonna be bored there!! That’s why I’m even more excited to go there!! They also invited us to come play frisby =) with them the next day (Saturday) but Jennifer went to Washington DC, but I was really looking forward to doing something fun. It got pretty late and I was shocked when I saw there were still lights on i the house. It turned out that Nicholas got sick – I felt so bad for him!! I couldn’t really sleep that night, something was reallt bothering me and at like 6am I got sick also, and Stacia told me that Abby did, too. It was so weird that we all got sick the same night, because we hadn’t even eaten the same things… My guess is that it came from the pool, because i know we all got water in our mouths. I was miserable…  So I took  a hot shower and went back to bed, I was freezing. I slept several hours and now I feel okay, but I’m really upset because I can’t go anywhere and it is one of my last weekends here in New York, and I wanted to go into the city tomorrow but I’m not sure if that is a good idea! So no frisby today either. But the weather was really bad so they didn’t go anyway. I was supposed to be alone at home this weekend because it’s Rich’s and Stacia’s BDay and they had plans for going into the city, but with the kids being sick the grandparents came up here instead of the kids staying at thei house.

Yeah so I’ve been lying in bed the whole day, I’m gonna sleep a little now or watch a movie. I wish I could go out tonight, just to get out of the house, but it’s probably better for me to stay in bed!
There’s just 2 and a half weeks left here in New York and you have no idea how excited I am!! Especially now that I know some people up there. I really think that “Lena in Boston” is ment to be *haha* I have a ery good feeling about it. ut I think you’ve heard that before =)
I should get my camera back this week so there’s gonna be pictures again! AND I’m gonna be writing from my new Laptop!! I hope next week is gonna be just as good as this one was!!

Busy Bee

August 1, 2008

I don’t reallt get to write a lot right now because I have lots of things to do and only 2 hours on the computer every day, BUT on Tuesday I’m gonna get my new Sony Vaio (it’s PINK!!), so be prepared for new posts!!

Sunny Days =)

July 9, 2008

I just wanted to say hiiiiiiii =)
Í am still in Miami, the weather is gorgeous and I already got a nice tan ( =sunburn)  *yay*
Even though I have access to a computer and even to write, I decided not to because I wanna wait until I can post all the pictures with it. I hope I am gonna have enough time to write eeeeeeverything. Today I went on an adventure with my cousin Emily – we spent have of the day in several busses. The Miami bus system sucks, it is unbelievable how the bus stops like every block, sometimes even just across the street. It takes forever. A usual half hour ride – from where we live to Miami Beach – took us 3 hours by bus today, it was ridiculous. We even ended up at the airport – I did’t think I was gonna go there before Saturday.. But it was a very fun day =) I’m happy I got up early and walked a lot. Miami is so different from New York. I love New York!!

I’ll be home Saturday, so don’t expect any new posts foir the next couple of days.
Sunny kiiiiiissssssesss
